The Hidden Terrace Vineyard is a well-kept secret sequestered on a steep south-facing slope at the edge of our Mountain Estate.
Scratched into a ravine and farmed entirely by hand due to the severe slopes, this small vineyard is composed of rare tuff (volcanic ash) soil that produces Syrah of intense concentration and varietal distinction. Extremely low yields limit production of this wine to just a handful of barrels each vintage.

The 2019 Syrah Hidden Terraces Vineyard shows just how compelling Syrah can be in the Fisher family's Sonoma property. Deep, savory and beautifully layered, the 2019 balances mountain savoriness and energy with a good dose of blue/purplish fruit. Hints of leather, black pepper and menthol add nuance. This is not an especially savory style of Syrah, rather it is the personality of this hillside site that comes through most.
Aromas of ripe plums mingle with hints of bay laurel and exotic black peppercorn. On the palate the 2019 Hidden Terrace Vineyard, Syrah is fruit dominant with tremendous freshness and finesse. Flavors of red cherry with firm tannins thanks to whole cluster fermentation and a bight cranberry fresh acidity on the finish. This wine continues to reveal itself over time in the glass signifying its dynamic mountain terroir with remarkable minerality and petrichor along with wild plum. Certainly one of our most versatile wines, it is the perfect accompaniment to winter stews and hearty roast meats or simple cheese and charcuterie plate.
