Planted in 1999, our Mountain Estate Vineyard, Chardonnay, is rooted in steep, rocky soils at 1,300 feet elevation, and planted with the 45 degree fall line on our only northeast-facing slope. Owing to this particular aspect, these vines receive cooler morning light and minimal exposure to any hot afternoon sun, which has proven ideal for the gradual ripening and maximum maturation of Chardonnay grapes.

The 2004 Mountain Estate Vineyard Chardonnay has a beautiful pale straw color with brilliant clarity that bursts with aromas of citrus, ripe pear and notes of sweet clove spice. The wine's silky-smooth texture on the palate combined with good mountain acidity gives this intense Chardonnay structure and focus. The wine's abundant flavors of green apple and poached pear culminate with hints of caramel and warm spice. In other words: delicious.
