The 6-acre Fisher Vineyard estate vineyard was planted with Three Palms Merlot bud-wood and the Diamond Mountain clone of Cabernet Franc in the sandy, stony soils on the Silverado Trail just south of Calistoga. The vineyard brings low yields of less than 3 tons/acre, producing ripe and flavorful berries with thick skins.

The 2001 RCF Merlot is full of luscious cassis and blueberry fruit, ripe tannins, notes of bittersweet chocolate and sweet spice, all of which add complexity and richness to this bright, elegant Merlot. For those who have come to love the unique character of this bottling, you'll experience it in abundance in this classic 2001 vintage.
