The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Cameron Fisher is a fine introduction to the top Cabernets in this range. It presents a compelling mix of blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs. Medium in body and savory, with terrific depth, the 2021 is notable.

Plenty of red and black fruits, cedary spice, chocolate, and violets emerge from the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cameron Fisher, another medium to full-bodied, pretty, elegant wine from this team that has lots to love. A blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot aged 22 months in 60% new French oak, it should shine for 10-12 years or more.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Cameron Fisher is a potent wine and a terrific introduction to this range. A blast of dark cherry, plum, tobacco, leather and dried herbs hits the palate. This is an especially savory vintage for the Cameron that reflects the higher percentage of Cabernet in the blend. Today, the wine feels a bit rustic and rough around the edges.

From a site in Calistoga (as are all of these releases), the 2018 Cameron Fisher has a big, unevolved bouquet of blue fruits, spiced plums, candied violets, wild sage, and graphite. Hitting the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, it stays nicely compact and balanced, with moderate acidity, plenty of ripe tannins, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. The blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 9% Malbec, and the rest Merlot. It should benefit from just short-term cellaring and keep for 12-15 years.

The 2018 Red Wine Cameron stands out in this range for its brighter, red-toned profile and floral top notes. As always, the Cameron is one of the most approachable wine in this range. Even so, it has the vibrant acids that mark all of the 2018s at Fisher and plenty of Cabernet structure. This is such a pretty, gracious wine.

Lastly, the 2017 Cameron Fisher is based on 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Malbec, 10% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and comes from younger vines in Napa. Spiced blackberries, black cherries, graphite, leafy herbs, and chocolate all emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded, and mouthfilling on the palate, with loads of fruit.

The 2017 Red Wine Cameron is soft, supple and fruity - all qualities that make it an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next handful of years. Still very primary, the 2017 needs time in bottle to develop its full range of flavors and aromatics. Even in the early going, though, the freshness and the purity of fruit are both remarkable.

The 2016 Cameron Fisher Red Wine checks in as a blend of 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Malbec, 10% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot that spent 22 months in 55% new French oak. Beautiful crème de cassis, blueberries, violets, and damp earth notes, as well as some minerality, all emerge from this layered, medium to full-bodied red. It's going to keep for over a decade. 234 cases.

The 2016 Red Wine Cameron is another forward, luscious wine from the Fisher family. Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot add nuance to this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from Fisher's southernmost vineyards in Calistoga. In 2016, the Cameron offers terrific depth, tons of character and an extra kick of pedigree that makes it one of the most enjoyable wines in this range.

2014

The 2014 Red Wine Cameron is one of the more exuberant wines in the range. Juicy red cherry, plum, spice, menthol and cedar are given and extra kick of intensity in this vintage. This is a surprisingly dense, concentrated wine for the year. These younger vines yielded an especially ripe, racy wine in 2014.

2013

Fisher's 2013 Red Wine Cameron is flat-out delicious. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke, tobacco, leather and cedar are all super-expressive in the glass. Drink this exuberant, racy red over the next handful of years. This is an especially ripe, forward wine for the year, but I doubt that will be too much of an issue for a wine that is meant to be enjoyed on release. There is no shortage of near term appeal here.

The other 2013s include an outstanding 2013 Cameron Proprietary Red. A similar blend to the 2012, the wine is deep ruby/purple with notes of cedar wood, licorice, white flowers and blue and black fruits. It is medium-bodied, elegant and, again, a somewhat modern California take on a St.-Emilion from Bordeaux. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.

2012

The 2012 Cameron Proprietary Red, a blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and the rest other Bordeaux varietals, shows supple tannins and is a nice medium-bodied, elegant, almost St.-Emilion-laden Napa style of wine, with fruitcake, tobacco leaf, spice box and red and blackcurrants. Drink it over the next decade or so.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Cameron, a young vines bottling from Coach Insignia, is a gorgeous, accessible wine, especially within the context of the year. Juicy dark raspberries, flowers, mint, savory herbs spices and licorice all take shape in this vibrant, vinous Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a rare 2010 with considerable early appeal. Freshly cut roses and spices add lift on a finish laced with considerable energy and freshness. The 2010 is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Malbec. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2020.

2007

The 2007 Cameron Proprietary Red is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers gorgeous blueberry, blackberry, forest floor, and floral aromas that jump from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored effort. Rich and opulent with well-integrated sweet tannins, acidity, and wood, this is a young, exceptionally pure, beautifully textured, long wine that can be drunk now and over the next 15-20 years.

One of the finest 2006s is the 2006 Cameron Proprietary Red. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it reveals silky tannins as well as plush red and black currant fruit interwoven with dusty, loamy soil, spice box, and a hint of tobacco leaf. This soft, stylish, St.-Emilion-like offering should drink nicely for a decade.

2005

A blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 2% Malbec, the 2005 Cameron Proprietary Red Wine offers outstanding potential. Aromas of black raspberries, black cherries, cassis, wood, lead pencil shavings, and spice box are followed by a medium to full-bodied wine with silky tannin, superb purity, and a tight, but promising, long finish. Give it 1-2 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 15+.

2002

A new offering, the 2002 Cameron Proprietary Red (33% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and the rest equal parts Malbec and Cabernet Franc) is an elegant, medium-bodied effort displaying attractive mineral, black currant, white chocolate, dried herb, and spice box characteristics. It could easily pass for a St.-Emilion or Graves in a blind tasting. Atypically measured and nuanced by California standards, it will drink well for 10-12 years.
